Do you have a means of transporting the unit?

If you plan to clean, maintain and service the portable toilet unit, you will be required by law to hold a registered waste carrier licence issued by the Environment Agency.

You will be responsible for transporting and disposing of all waste in an appropriate way, and for restocking all consumables including toilet paper, soap/sanitiser and paper hand towels where necessary.

Over prolonged periods of time, purchasing your own portable toilet unit may work out to be cost effective but you must factor in maintenance and cleaning costs. As mentioned above, you will need to obtain a waste carrier’s licence and arrange transportation of the waste, and include the charges for using a waste disposal plant. Alternatively, you will incur costs to have this done for you, which may not make the purchase financially viable.  While portable toilet units are durable, and will last a long time, even the smallest unit measuring 1.19m in width will require permanent storage when not in use. If purchasing a luxury toilet trailer, it will take longer for the unit to pay for itself and larger storage will be required.
