The benefits of shower block hire on film sets

27 August 2024

On location shoots, there can often be a small army of people both behind and in front of the cameras. Here we look at the benefits to them of shower block hire.

Imagine you’re David Lean in the days before CGI, directing a thousand extras in the Moroccan desert for Lawrence of Arabia. At the end of the day, hot and tired and with sand everywhere it can be, how great would it have been to have portable showers at your disposal? Of course, not all film sets are as extreme as this and here, we look at the benefits of shower block hire on all film and TV sets.

Why shower block hire is perfect when location shooting

By their very nature, some location shoots can be remotely located. Even if there are permanent facilities, they may be in short supply for the number of people involved. In these situations, portable shower block hire is the ideal solution.

The benefits of portable shower block hire

The benefits of portable showers are many, and include the following:

Mobile shower unit hire will save you money – long days and nights on remote location shoots can have an emotional and physical impact on personnel. Having the means to freshen up at the end of the session will help your workforce feel valued, and they will know that their health and safety is your priority. The knock-on will be fewer absence days due to illness, saving the production team money.

Mobile shower units offer luxury amenities – facilities that offer the comforts of home are what your cast and crew deserve. With a constant, ambient temperature of 38° C, individual lockable bays and plenty of changing space, shower units provide a home from home experience.

Portable shower units are safe and secure – individual shower bays are completely private and cannot be accessed without a key, keeping users safe and secure.

Flexibility for location managers – available on a short- or long-term hire, portable shower units are suitable for shoots of any length, from a few days to several months. If locations change mid-shoot, the shower units can go with you, maintaining consistent provision for cast and crew.

Features of portable shower trailers

  • Non-slip, safety flooring
  • Individual, lockable bays
  • Each bay has a basin, mirror, seat and clothes hook
  • Generous drying area
  • One bottle of propane gas provided
